me

This is me with Lucas as a baby in Melbourne at our fave restaurant Sud. Not a brilliant pic but one of the few ones I'm actually in.
My husband Stuart (a software engineer, not a photographer) and I took Lucas with us with the plan of having him sleep in the pram but he ended up getting to know all the other diners in the room.  I took pictures of all the other people that night - we had a load of wine, a load of laughs and made some new friends.  Babies are great for that!

I am first and foremost a mother of three delightfully different boys.  I'm grateful every day to have such a wonderful supportive husband and loving boys that continue to teach me so much!  Parenting is hard and exhausting and luckily rewarding.  A sense of humour and appreciation for the little things keeps me sane (almost).

I'm also blessed to have such amazing parents who always drop everything to be there for me at ridiculously short notice.  To me they are the best, to my kids they are Oma & Opa.

I love nothing more than following children around with a camera and capturing those special moments.  When they look right into my lens or when they share a giggle or give each other a hug or a kiss, it gives me such a buzz.   I adore natural light and natural expressions.  I'll get the more formal poses if I have to, but it doesn't make my heart sing like capturing a real moment.

I have a varied background - I studied marketing and continue to study photography, worked in advertising, co-founded and managed a decent sized Internet company for almost a decade as well as a myriad of other jobs as a student back in the day.  Photography feels like home.

I am a huge fan of Canon, my Macbook Pro, my iphone and am often seen peddling around with one or two kids on board my Electra bicycle. I was born in Holland and bike riding is in our blood.  I'm not talking about sweaty, hunched over, racing as fast as you can riding, I"m talking about old school sitting upright with comfortable posture with a huge soft comfy paddle seat with my feet flat on the ground when I stop riding.  Oma bikes rock!  And as it's steel with only three gears I get a real work out up any hill.

Tulips are my favourite flower (was also my Grandmother's when she was alive) and I really do believe in the power of lucky lipgloss (for years it has been Chanel No. 19 Blizzard). When I wear it, amazingly good things keep happening.

Being a creative passionate person I tend to jump on band-wagons pretty easily and I'll no doubt be sharing products and experiences I come across that I love through this blog.  I started to keep a personal blog and was going to keep this one separate, but my life and my photograhy are so deeply intertwined it doesn't make sense to try to separate the two.

Life is short and I still forget so much.  Here's to making, capturing and remembering good times.
